Yellow Teaser~Cheery Winter Wednesday

We don't have White Winter like other gardeners in higher latitude closer to arctic or antarctic experience in winter. Don't have snow here and so far micro-climate helps us escape from frost.  But with the cold weather, it is still hard for a gardener like me to go outdoors during this season. So for fun, I seek other colour than green in our mid-winter garden. Surprisingly I found many yellow colours in our mid-winter garden. This findings makes me cheerful enough to spend more time in the garden. Moreover, most of this cheerful things in the garden is edible and self-seeded. Most of these plants are commonly found in any temperate garden during summer. Although our plants are a bit weird (supposedly winter here), grown from home-saved seeds has adapted to our cold weather and become a bit cold-hardy. To make it more fun since the cold weather has kept us Australia gardeners indoors, I let you guess what these plants are with some hints.
(a)Edible
(b) Standing tall
(c)spicy salad
(d) Maintain healthy soil
(e) Popular in wok
(f) Most popular plant in summer

  12. Thank you all for joining in the guessing and fun. All of you really know good garden plants very well even we garden in different climate and region all over the world. So here is the answer.
    (a) Calendula/pot marigold
    (b) Sunflower
    (c) Nasturtium
    (d) Marigold
    (e) Choy Sum flower (the pak chois family)
    (f) Tomato

Kwee Peng~ It does look like Chrysanthemum. You remind me to buy the edible chrysanthemum seeds for next spring odering.

CathJ~Yup sayur bunga adik-beradik Pak Choi. They all look the same.

Mom of M&Ms~I like the vibrant colour and I can see this flower next to my bedroom window.

Holly~Yahoo you got them all correct.

Sara~Yeah tomato really look bad. But it has been braving the winter. The survivor.

Sean L~Its Bolting Choy Sum (Asian green) flower. The bees love them.

CikManggis~Rehat-rehat badan dulu sampai sihat. Nanti dah segar bolehlah mula tanam.

Cat-from-Sydney~I wonder how rosemary and pandan both together smell like. But you have lots of corner to put them and it will be interesting each corner has its own bau wangi. I was just munching some sunflower seeds just now and it was so lemak. I was thinking not to let the seeds dry for planting, temptation so strong.

Sunray~Thank you, it helps add a bit of colour in the garden.

Rainfield61~How many did you get right :). Perfect score?

Joyce~ BINGO!BINGO!BINGO! I am impress you even got it specifically choy sum!
